"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." - Marilyn Monroe
We all have it from time to time. Stress. And some amount of it is good for you, or so I hear. But there are times, especially when you're a teen girl these days, when it gets to be a little too much. But how do you know when you've had enough?
Believe it or not, everyone has signs, or what I like to call symptoms of stress. Maybe there's something you do - biting your nails, scratching, eating too much. Some people get physically ill, or have a hard time sleeping. It's funny, because we think we're so good at hiding how we feel, and keeping it under the surface. But if you really pay attention, we're not - it's like our body sends out a stress SOS, if we're willing to see it.
Of course, it is possible for a physical problem to be the cause of stress - being sick may make you feel a little down. But it's important to realize when these outer problems are a sign of something inside. It could just be temporary, but if things are feeling a little rough, it's good to find someone you can talk to. Because if you completely ignore it, there's a lot of bigger stress symptoms - drug use, eating disorders, and cutting are all habits that can come out of emotional stress.
I don't want you to get stressed out about your stress - just think about what your symptoms might be, and use them to your advantage to recognize when you need to slow it down. If you need some help, I'm always here for ya. Reach me at fabgalsite@gmail.com or The Fab Gal Myspace.
