Bikini Nightmares! |
Hey Fab Gals!
So, I was looking up and down the mirror. Okay, the crazy, wet hair I could deal with. And the pink cheeks. It was kind of cute, really. My arms even looked a little bit tanner. But oh dear, my stomach. Did I really show everyone that much of my stomach? What was I thinking, at a party like that? Maybe that new diet wasn't such a bad idea after all...
Summer is here, almost. And that so often means swimsuit shopping. I don't know wh at it is about that chore that sends girls into a frenzy. Maybe it's the lights, or the extra skin, or a trick of the mirrors. I really couldn't tell you. Whatever the cause, Dressing Room Syndrome can make even a pretty confident chick rag on her body.
There may be no know cure for this problem. But I think there are a few things you can do to make it a little bit better. First, take care of yourself. Not like going on a diet - by enjoying the sun, eating well, and relaxing. It just makes your whole body and self feel better. Also, look at the whole picture. It seems like a lot of girls have one specific body par they don't like. And you know what, that's fine if you can't change your opinion of your thighs or shoulders right now. But remember, other people don't fixate on that one part. They see the whole you - the combination of all the good parts (plus the one you don't like so much), and that whole beauty is what makes you, you.
Last, think about how you see your best friend. You probably think she looks great in her suit, and would never tear her down for going out in public donned in a bikini. For example, one of my best friends has a scar on her stomach that is pretty much only in sight when she goes swimming. I never even thought that it would bother her until she told me how she didn't like that she knew people noticed it. I always thought it was kind of cool, and just made her seem more beautiful and strong and cool. So what I'm saying is, realize that whatever it is you don't like, might just seem totally lovable by someone else.
It might be a crazy time of year, but that can be a good thing! So get out there and have some fab adventures.
xoxo

Swimsuit Stress |
Hey there, FGs!
Isn't summer the best? No school, lots of sun, and time for all kinds of crazy adventures. But something a little Fab Gal said reminded me of one of the dangers of this season: swimsuit shopping. Two things you should know about me: I love swimming, and I love shopping even more. Despite that, I cringe at the thought of swimsuit shopping. I would probably do it blindfolded if I could. I don't know what it is - the fluorescent lighting, my pale winter skin - but it's just really horrible, isn't it? Unfortunately, we've all gotta do it, so here are my tips for making it as painless as possible... - Shop Online - If dressing rooms aren't for you, I would definitely recommend shopping online. That way, you can try things on in the comfort of your own room, plus you can try it on with different outfits. Bonus: most stores are nice about returns, so even if you decide to send it back, you won't have to pay extra shipping.
- Go with a Friend - If you do decide to hit the malls, why not make it a girls' trip? Go with someone who a) will be honest with you, and b) will make it as fun as possible. That way, you'll have a second opinion on hand, and you might even have a good time with it.
- Keep an Open Mind - There are so many options with suits, so you should definitely feel free to be bold. Who knows? You may find that the funky cut-out one piece is actually really cool, or that purple is one of your colors after all.
- Try on Lots - I know, I know. You want to just try on one as quickly as possible, decide it fits, and then get outta there. But you're going to be wearing your suit all summer, and you want to have something you love. You won't know what works for your body with out trying out all the possibilities.
- Don't Worry About Sizes - More than any other piece of clothing, it's really important that you find a suit that fits (You don't want to be featured in Seventeen's Embarrassing Moments article, do you?). So don't freak if you are wearing a size smaller or bigger than you're used to - or that your top and bottom sizes are different. If you're freaking about your size, cut out the tags when you get home - no one will see, and you can forget about it.
- Go with Confidence - Once you've got a suit picked out, wear it proudly! Summer goes quick, and you don't want to waste it covering with a towel poolside. Plus, nothing could make you look hotter than a confident attitude!
And here are some of my fave places to find a variety of fun, affordable, and totally fab suits: Good Luck Fab Gals! As always, keep in touch with me at fabgalsite@gmail.com.
xoxo
