I Fought the Chocolate Cake... And It Won
Hello FGs!

We've all been there. Gazing longingly at the dessert tray. Mental calorie-counting. If I eat it, then I have to... Oh but it sounds so good. Drool. Wipe it off...

It was one of those days for me. Really, it wasn't that big of deal. I was still hungry, and hey, it was vacation. One dessert was not the end of the world. Even still, the fight kept going on and on in my head. Either way, it seemed I was going to lose. I just decided to have my cake... along with the inevitable guilt.

If you've been there, I hope you realize the cake isn't the problem. Neither is your body. Because seriously, one indulgence won't send you into obesity. There is always something else, some other problem that is disguising itself in chocolate. I hate to put therapist words on it, but I believe they call it "emotional eating." On this particular day, I was scared. About this one guy. About the new year ahead at a new school. Mostly though, the boy was the problem. Darn boys.

So I had my cake, and the world didn't come crashing down (nor did I gain 20 lbs). And when I got home, Italked to the boy. And got ready for school. And all of that stress was really misplaced.
I'm not saying you shouldn't give in every once in a while. Please do. But if you hear the dialogue going in your head, think about that for a minute. What's bugging you? What's going on that you need to take care of? Just don't blame the chocolate.

xoxo
